On Monday I had the pleasure of joining Andy Cotgreave for a special webinar, hosted by Tableau, titled ‘Ask Andy Anything’. As I explained recently, this was a chance for people to send in any burning questions they had about data visualisations and we’d offer our views.

Next Monday 30th November I will be joining Tableau’s Andy Cotgreave for a special webinar titled ‘Ask Andy Anything’. The premise is that both Andy and I are called Andy and you are invited to ask us anything about data visualisation.

I was very pleased to be invited by Matt Francis and Emily Kund to join them to chat about data visualisation on the latest episode of their ‘Tableau Wanna Be Podcast’. Amongst other things we discussed some of the nevers and shouldn’ts of data visualisation.

On the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) website, Professor Helen Kennedy, the leader of our Seeing Data research project, has posted an article about ‘how people engage with data visualisations and why it matters’.

Last week I had the pleasure, as always of having a brief discussion with Jon Schwabish about life in the data visualisation scene. Helpfully the chat was recorded by NSA, Jon retrieved the audio and published it on his site.

It goes without saying how much of a privilege it is to be invited to contribute to a Data Stories podcast and last week I joined hosts Enrico and Moritz alongside Robert Kosara to review the major trends and developments during 2014 and preview the main hopes and expectations for 2015.

Ages ago I wrote an article for Wiley’s ‘Statistics Views’ site and it looks like it was finally published yesterday. The piece is titled “Visualising Statistics: The importance of seeing not just describing data”

For cross-posting purposes: Over on the Seeing Data research project blog, I have posted an article about what ‘designing for an audience’ really means in data visualisation. It offers a few key prompts about key matters to consider in your design process.

An article discussing the need for greater sophistication in recognising what outcomes certain visualisations are attempting to accomplish and indeed what they are capable of accomplishing.
